RE: Roof replacement

Can you tell me how you contacted Jayco and how you got them to do the work out of warranty? I have a 2005 Jayco Eagle 322 FKS which is about 6 months out of warranty and the roof has developed soft spots around the edges. I think this is a defect and should be fixed by them. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Blacstar wrote: I just had my roof replaced last fall.. Something to do with condensation under the roof was rotting it out. Jayco approved the job a half year out of warranty. The dealer did the work and seems to have done a fantastic job.. If they need to replace it, and its their nickel, let them. Good Luck I sent you a PM Jim

RE: Hensley site and the word JACKKNIFE

However the claim has some validity. Your scenario of running with the 7-way cord detached essentially disabling the TT's brakes is a real possible situation. However driving with no TT brakes can cause all sorts of accident scenarios. We should give HA the benefit of the doubt that the rig is in proper working order. But I totally agree with your never say never thinking. I had this situation Wed. My prodigy brake controller craped out leaving Wildwood NJ. I made several stops to try to fix it with no luck. I'm not proud of it but I traveled 4-hours with no brakes back to Conn, going up hill & down hill, I did leave plenty of room and never went over 55 mph. I know of the Hensley bump and the potential problems with no brakes. I did feel the bump one time. But for the most part I let the truck and trailer slow before having to use the TV brakes. I guess carrying a backup controller is now a must, because after a week of vacation and to end it that way took away all the stress relief I got...Ug

RE: Broken Awning Knobs..

A very easy do it yourself. Just go to the dealer and get the knobs and change them out. Have done it myself and it is not a big deal. One of the knob just spins, and I don't think all the turning in the world will make it come off, and the other feels likes its stripping because it does not want too turn?

Broken Awning Knobs..

How tuff is it to change the knobs that tighten the awning rafters? I had one that was basically stripped and now the other one is done. You can turn them a quarter turn, then they become stuck and you can not loosen them.. Is this a do-it yourselfer or a trip to the dealer? Thank you

RE: Hensley Hitch

If I understand it, ProPride is or has developed an adapter that will allow you to connect it to a ball style hitch temporarily. Would this not help if you end up in a position that would be difficult to unhook and rehook in a straight line. Couldn't you hook onto a ball pull it out until you are in a straight line, disconnect pull forward 3 or 4 feet, remove the adapter and put the stinger on. Then all you have to do is get the up and down right and your connected. Of course this would be several extra steps and maybe 10 minutes extra hooking up. I would say that would be a fair trade off. This would require you to carry a seperate shank with a ball on it.. Thats a lot of weight to carry for that reason. If you got the trailer in the spot using the the propride or hensley, you will be able to get it out..

RE: Hensley Hitch

H & E wrote: I was parked next to a camper that was using a Hensley. He was having trouble hooking up....During our conversation he indicated that it sometimes took him about an hour to get hooked up... Wow, something is wrong with that guy. Sounds like he needs another type of RV. I can get the stinger in the Hensley receiver the first shot, every time. I can hitch faster with the Hensley than a traditional ball coupler. Same here 95% of the time..Faster than a conventional.. But on occasion I have brain lock and struggle for 5 minutes..

RE: Hensley Hitch

I have a relevant question to this post. what happens if a strut rod breaks on the hitch? wouldn`t this give an uncontrollable rear steer condition? To answer the question , most likely yes But, has it happened? I've been on this forum for many many years and never read about this happening.. Its probably just as likely to happen as the ball on the hitch breaking off or a tire falling off your TV or TT. These struts are stout !

RE: Hensley Hitch

Obviously I have never seen the Hensley or ProPride hitch up close, but from the pictures it looks like you would be able to remove WD bars and hitch pretty easily. Its actually not that bad to take off. I took my TT in for service last year and took it off my self in about ten minutes.. Putting it back on took the same amount of time, but I needed my nephew to help or it would have been a real bear..

RE: BIG TiMe downsize!

Hmmmm difficult math. Sell the 2005 Eagle for 20k and buy the 2006 20bh for 9k. I don't think that's much of a loss. Why sell the F-350 diesel when it gets better MPG than any f-150? 20k is a little ambitious... I bought mine in 2005 for 21k Either way, do what you want and enjoy, that's what its all about. Happy Camping

Who replaced the DVD player in there Jayco?

I've read over the years of others Jayco DVD players quitting, well mine has.......... Who out there replaced the piece of junk DVD player ? I'm looking for a cheap quick swap for the TT. The spot it fits in is not very big and there seems to be a lot of wires going into this thing.. I've found a few inexpensive ones online, but I don't know if you could fit all the wires in it for the surround sound.. Bottom line, is there a easy swap for the Jayco players?

RE: 3P (ProPride) hitch - anyone get yours yet?

Its a brand new hitch and has not really hit the market yet, but once it does and is established....I think it probably will be a better choice than the Hensley, all things considered. Time will tell, though.... That's a bold statement for a product that's on possibly a dozen TV. They should send you a free hitch for all the positive words you have expressed so far..:W I too hope it performs up to expectations, I've seen to many people swaying down the road at excessive speeds. The more affordable these hitches are ,the better..

RE: Shell record first quarter profits ...

For those of you who believe the oil company's should be able to charge whatever they want because they should be able make a profit.. Then why is it illegal for a gas station to charge whatever they want? Its called gouging, and they get fined.. And I don't work for a gas company..

RE: When will the diesel Price insanity Stop?

High prices for gas and diesel are here to stay - it's not going to stop. Right now, I'm paying $4.68 a gal. for diesel and I don't think it will be too long before it's over $5.00. Rick, I see you live in Canada.. What was the price for a gallon of fuel 2 years ago up there..It was 1.69 here, did your prices in Canada triple in 2 years?? Just want to see if ours went up as much as yours...

When will the diesel Price insanity Stop?

This is getting just plain stupid... Here in Connecticut Diesel is now $1.00 more than gas.. I've read all the reasons why its more expensive, But a dollar !. This has been one of the more milder winters for Ct. and the price is still going up. What will happen when we have a good cold winter? I know everyone is using less oil around here because of the mild temps, so where is all the oil? I sold my 99 Dodge V-10 (which was in awesome condition) because I didn't think I could afford the gas. Wow was I wrong.. Sorry for the rant..But man , its gotta stop soon.. Robert
